g.number   Generation number.  A generation number was assigned to each individual in this genealogy as a guide for dating them relative to each other.  This was done because birth dates are unknown for more than two-thirds of the people in this genealogy.  The oldest geneation in this genealogy is g.11.  Each younger generation of descendants was given the next larger number.  There are some marriages which crossed generations resulting in a few individuals having two generation numbers, for example g.17&16.  The first number corresponds to that individual's own surname lineage, and the second number pertains to in-laws.  The generation numbers for descendants of couples like this do not align across the two lineages for family relations such as cousins, aunts, nephews and grandparents.

Lowercase Roman numerals were assigned to the second, third, fourth, ... , occurrences of a single name that belongs to several different individuals so they can be distinguished within this genealogy.  These numerals were often assigned in arbitrary order.  They do not always indicate grandparent, parent, child relationships.  They have no meaning outside this genealogy.
